Change. Never a fun thing; never an easy thing; never a sought-out thing. It sits over us, it weighs on our mind, it weighs us down (less now, sans pennies...but still ;)). Long story short, change is ordinarily seen as one of those things that has to be tolerated and endured, dealt with, and made the most of.
Ordinarily.
I feel like life is made up of very distinct and easily recognizable phases. We tend to separate our lives into different blocks, mini-lives in and of themselves in a way, each with their own set of worries, concerns, priorities and goals. When we look back, we can see these blocks and phases for exactly what they are--they are all to clear. The confidence and clarity that retrospect provides us with allows us to make these deductions and come to these conclusions without hesitation. But when it comes to the present? Well, that's a horse of a different colour. When it comes to the present, change once again becomes that girl we all love to hate. And we hesitate; we hold ourselves back; we resist it with all our might. We choose to remain in the past--even if that past didn't live up to its promise--for fear of what change will bring.
But every now and again, in and around those cusps that form the division from one life to the next, we stop resisting change and start craving it. We start looking for it. We want it. Its like we spend our entire life living these very personal, very subjective lives and then, almost out of nowhere, we're afforded this unique sense of objectivity; and we can look down at ourselves and see when and where, and who and what, and exactly how things need to change. And not changing becomes the most terrifying and horrifying thing of all.
And that's when things stop being ordinary.
